Acupuncture is another treatment option which is currently offered at Vibrant Healing. Acupuncture is a medical practice in which needles are used to stimulate certain points in the body to help alleviate pain and treat various health conditions.
There Are Two Different Principles
Most acupuncturists follow one being contemporary medical acupuncture and the other traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture.
Contemporary medical acupuncture is the stimulation of peripheral nerves with acupuncture needles in order to restore the normal functioning of the nerves and the associated muscles and joints.
Traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture focuses on using acupuncture needles to stimulate points around the body in order to balance and promote the flow of Qi energy through its meridians. Traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture believes that the proper functioning of these meridians helps the body to naturally heal itself and relieve pain through neuro-hormonal release. Each acupuncture treatment begins with a health history and physical examination in order to determine the best treatment protocol to help the patient meet their goals.
Beginning Treatment
When beginning the actual treatment needles are inserted into the treatment points and in order to further stimulate these points an electrical stimulus is attached to the needles. The needles that are used at the clinic are very thin and barely felt by patients. There is also usually no blood at the needle insertion points. This type of technique is called pain-free dry needling. The length of the treatment varies depending on the patient and condition. After the treatment is complete the stimulus is turned off and the needles are removed. Acupuncture can help relieve muscle tension, improve the function of nerves and muscles, relieve pain, improve mood and increase energy.
